Moving forward from Summer into Fall
Major decisions, new friends, different environment, all moving us forward, even sometimes when we are resist.

Choose wise counsel when you make the major decisions, God first, then someone special in your life who you respect and who respects you. Seems easy, and for some decisions it is, but for the major, life-changing ones, be cautious who you share your heart with.  And in the same way, if someone trusts you to share their heart and asks your advise, understand that this is an honor, not just a random request. Pray and if you don't feel you are the one to help them, tell them so.  Sometimes the answers are not easy and an older person, like family, school counselor or someone from your church, may be the best one to refer them to.

You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.
Psalm 16:11 (NLT)

New friends are fun, but it takes the test of time to see if they are truly the kind of friends that you can bless and who can bless you.  Just guard your heart, share kindness, but take these relationships slow.  Remember, don't compromise your integrity, your standards or your heart for anyone.  Then all is fair and the adventure is OK.

Be the one who other people want to befriend.  Let your light shine, smile, don't complain, start your day with prayer.  Let joy be your strength and remember God is right by your side.

Enjoy the season...God has a plan just for you....ask and He will guide your every step.

Come and listen to my counsel.
I’ll share my heart with you
and make you wise.

Sound like I hear celebration coming!

For many it's time to take a vacation, get away for a few days and enjoy family and friends.  For others it may be a time of not knowing what to do.  As an American we celebrate the Independence of our Nation.  Maybe some of us don't know what independence really stands for.  It's easy to take for granted the things we have always had.  But for many in far off lands, this is not the case.

Today as we look forward to the 4th of July, I encourage you who are grateful for your independence in this "land of the free and home of the brave", to celebrate and encourage those around you to do the same.

If you know what redemption means, you always have something to celebrate.

So live, laugh, rejoice and become contageous to those around you.  Especially the younger generation....let them know what we stand for as a nation and what you stand for as a Christian.

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
Philippians 4:4 (KJV)

What does it take to be "content"?

Was money the first thing that popped into your head?  wrong answer...was doing your own thing?....wrong answer....how about being famous?...wrong answer!  At least wrong when it comes to true contentment.

How about, knowing that you are doing the right thing when no one is patting you on the back...or being "famous" in your family because they just love you and appreciate you for who you are....or doing things for others even when it sometimes seems like you really would rather be off and running.  All things to think about.

Money comes and goes in life, and some people are only around when you have it and when you are "broke" those friends have disappeared.  Doing your own thing can be great for a season, and then it gets real lonely.  Being famous, well it doesn't take too much to figure out that one day the "famous" are up there and next time you think about them they aren't so famous anymore.

So what does it mean to be content?  Well you know we always get the right answer from one source, the bible.  Here is something to think about today.

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
Hebrews 13:5  (NIV)

Who's looking?

Don't we always wonder who is watching, especially when we've had one of those oops moments?

This could be about what you are wearing, like you "thought" the colors matched, but....  you have two color shoes - same style, and you wore one of each... just cover up with a great attitude and a smile, especially if anyone says anything.....laughter is the greatest way to work past these moments.

Or those times when you are driving and you "thought it was your turn to  go" and realize....it was their turn!  It's all about poise, just smile, no hand gestures, and hopefully none coming your way...like the "hands in the air", "the banging on the steering wheel", or the "whatever" attitude. Granted we all have these moments, but let's remember, we are being watched and it's not about being right, just being kind!

And don't let the mirror constantly call you "everytime" you pass a window or mirror in the store.  Really, just be yourself and be joyful, the compliments will come whether it's on how you look for the day or on your attitude.

It's all good and all a continual learning curve.  Just follow Jesus and hopefuly others will do the same, as they watch you.

Let someone else praise you, not your own mouth...a stranger, not your own lips.
Proverbs 27:2 (NLT)

Something to think about

Ever been in a "blue" mood, just not sure what is going on, if it's the weather, the job, school, or relationship issues?

Today I had a thought that helped me pull out of one of those moods.  Yes, I actually get them too!

A scripture read at church yesterday came to mind and as I meditated on it, things began to look better and better.

Very simple, its about giving.  Not necessarily money, but just giving.  When we truly examine ourselves, how much do we think about giving to others like we think about being given something?

What helped me and maybe will help you too is I began to think of all the people in my life that could use encouragement and a kind word, so I began acting on that thought and gave out as many blessings as I could think of.  Thinking that when I get kind words or encouraging words, it makes me feel really good and ready to "take on whatever situation needs to be taken on" with the strength that only comes from the Lord.

So, I'm just saying, if you are in one of those "blue" moods, start giving to others what you would like to have in your life.

You'll not likely go wrong here if you keep remembering that our Master said, "You're far happier giving than getting".  Acts 20:35 (Message)
